This year marks the 75th anniversary of the famous pharmacologist Alexander Nikolaevich Yavorsky.

Alexander Nikolaevich Yubileyavorsky (to the 75th anniversary of his birth)

Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Alexander Nikolaevich Yavorsky was born on April 19, 1948 in the city of Vinnytsia. In 1972 he graduated with honors from the medical faculty of the Vinnytsia Medical Institute named after N.I. Pirogov. In 1975 he defended his PhD thesis at the Research Institute of Pharmacology of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences, where he was a senior researcher at the Laboratory of Medicinal Toxicology until 1987. In 1987, under the leadership of corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences B.I. Lyubimov defended his doctoral dissertation and was appointed scientific Secretary of the Research Institute of Pharmacology of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences, which he held until 1991. From 1991 to 1996, he worked as a chief researcher at the Laboratory of Drug Toxicology of the Research Institute of Pharmacology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. In 1994, he was awarded the academic title of professor in the specialty "pharmacology".

Since 1996, he headed the Department of Instructions, Orders and Nomenclature of the Russian State Center for Drug Expertise of the Ministry of Health of Russia. From 1994 to 2000 – Chairman of the Commission on Instructions and Nomenclature of the Pharmacological Committee of the Ministry of Health of Russia. Based on the experience of the Commission, he developed scientific approaches to the formation of the national nomenclature of medicines and prepared a monograph "Trade names of medicines".

Since 1999, he has been the scientific secretary of the Scientific Center for Expertise and State Control of Medicines of the Ministry of Health of Russia. From 2002 to 2013, he held the positions of Head of the Information Standards Department, the Scientific and Analytical Department, the Postgraduate Department of the Scientific Center for the Examination of Medical Devices (NCESMP) of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. He took an active part in the preparation of volume II of the State Register of Medicines "Standard clinical and pharmacological articles", Guidelines for the experimental (preclinical) study of new pharmacological substances, Guidelines for the examination of medicines, which are still reference books for drug developers in Russia.

From 2013 to 2017, he held the position of Scientific Secretary of the FSBI NCESMP of the Ministry of Health of Russia. From 1999 to 2017 – Executive Secretary of the journal "Vedomosti NCESMP". For many years, he took an active part in the certification of scientific personnel, being the scientific secretary of the Dissertation Council of the Research Institute of Pharmacology of the Russian Academy of Sciences and a member of the Dissertation Council of the VolGMU of the Ministry of Health of Russia and the All-Russian Scientific Center for the Safety of Biologically Active Substances.

From 2017 to 2020, A. N. Yavorsky – Chief Researcher of the Laboratory of Experimental Biomedicine of the Pushchinsky State Natural Science Institute of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, and since 2020 - Chief Researcher of the Scientific and Educational Center of Law and Bioethics in the Field of Genomic Research and Application of Genetic Technologies of the Kutafin Moscow State Medical University of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia. Co-author of textbooks "Pharmaceutical information", "Pharmaceutical law of Russia" and "Genetic technologies".

Yavorsky A. N.  – a pharmacologist of the highest qualification, who "gave names" and "published" the majority of Russian medicines, prepared 10 candidates of sciences as a scientific supervisor, author of more than 280 scientific publications, 17 monographs and 5 textbooks.
